I'm using the Aqara Motion Sensors which are only $20 on Amazon and work great. If a motion detected event happens within my time line then I exit the shortcut and wait for the next No Motion Detected event to trigger the timer again. I also found using a smaller wait time in a repeat was more reliable.

My motion sensors update about once a minute so I check twice a minute once I get a no motion detected event looking for motion in the room still. IF >= 50% - Incase my wife turns the lights on to 100% REPEAT times WAIT seconds - 30 seconds 40x so 20 minutes IF Motion is Detected Exit Shortcut with Result - Motion was detected so stop timer END IF END WAIT END REPEAT OTHERWISE -The light is < 50% so was most likely turned on by motion event REPEAT times WAIT seconds - 30 seconds 10x so 5 minutes IF Motion is Detected Exit Shortcut with Result - Motion was detected so stop timer END IF END WAIT END REPEAT END IF SET Off - If the exit event is never called then turn off the lights.

I also use the IF to check if the light is less than 21% first (20% didn't work) so that if I'm watching TV late I don't want the motion sensor to start adjusting lights which are normally at 30% during late night movies or higher if people are in the room during other times.Įxample of Master Bathroom lights triggered by the Motion Sensor in the Master Bath - No Motion Detected event. But at night it turns the lights on at 20% to be used as a nightlight. During the day it turns the lights all the way for certain rooms and nothing at all for other. I also use the same sensor to trigger based on the time of day. I use something similar but use a combination of IF, REPEAT, WAIT, OTHERWISE. HomeKit shortcuts make the system way more powerful than most people realize. If the door is still open then it checks if motion is detected again, if it is it stops the shortcut and if it isn’t then it turns the lights off. I have an automation that runs when it stops detecting motion, it runs a shortcut that waits for 3 minutes and then checks if the door to the bathroom is closed, if so it exits the shortcut. Like my downstairs bathroom has its lights turn on when the motion sensor in there detects motion. I use this type of setup for occupancy detection in various rooms. Have it run a shortcut that waits for 1,800 seconds and then have it turn that light off. So have an automation trigger when that light turns on.
How much is autoturn plus#
You do have to tap or hold the plus button to get to the seconds you need which is a hassle though. There you can add a “wait” command for how many seconds you want. If you create an automation, you can choose to convert it to a shortcut. I haven’t tested a 30 minute threshold but you can do this with shortcuts.
